Bernd Lohaus at Zuiderpark Antwerpen

Bernd Lohaus at Zuiderpark Antwerpen

On Wednesday, October 9th, the inauguration of Bernd Lohaus’ (1940–2010) work 'Ohne titel'(2007) will take place in Zuiderpark Antwerp, near the former studio of the artist.

'Ohne Titel' consists of three bronze sculptures and draws inspiration from the transport pallet, a recurring element in Bernd Lohaus’ oeuvre. For Lohaus, the pallet embodied not only labor and movement but also the transience of industrial and urban life. By placing this everyday object in a new context, he managed to unite stillness and dynamism. His choice of bronze – rare in his oeuvre, which mainly consists of wood, stone, and rope – makes 'Ohne Titel' a particularly special work. Ohter work by Bernd Lohaus are also included in the collections of the Middelheim Museum, M HKA in Antwerp, SMAK and MACs Grand Hornu.

This project was realized by Gallery Sofie Van de Velde, Anny De Decker, Stella Lohaus, and Jonas Lohaus, in collaboration with Kunst in de Stad. More information can be found at www.middelheimmuseum.be.
