See-Through (Roger Raveel revisited, curated by Zeynep Kubat): With works by Lisa Ijeoma, Margarita Maximova, Jota Mombaça, Michaela Schweighofer, Angyvir Padilla and Roger Raveel
Something seems to happen there, inside and outside.
How do you step into a landscape? How do you understand the objects and spaces that hold exactly who you are? From different perspectives and viewpoints, the artists in See-Through play with what’s happening inside and outside, and how the environmental spaces of our daily lives are charged with traces of our identity. Always playing with the visible and the invisible, Roger Raveel’s works become interlocutors for contemporary perspectives on how abstractions and lines do not set boundaries, but rather lift them from our vision. Not scared to deal with the metaphysics of objecthood and spatial abstractions, Raveel unraveled the parcelled identity of Flanders, divided into plots and layers. From sky to soil, from house to memory, the invited artists create windows on their own worlds, worlds we all share with each other.
