Karin Hanssen at Actueel Art Platform

Group show 'De Andere Blik' - 23 October until 15 November

For the fifth consecutive time, marking a special anniversary edition, the Actueel Art Platform (A.A.P.) is organising an exhibition of contemporary art in Ninove.

A.A.P. is an art platform dedicated to promoting contemporary and current art, bringing together established professional artists and emerging talent, both young and less young, from across Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. By connecting different art forms, the platform aims to put Ninove and the Dender region firmly on the map of contemporary art in a positive way. At the same time, it seeks to bring contemporary art to Ninove and the Dender region, making it accessible to local residents who may find it less easy to travel to major cities. The aim is to give them the opportunity to discover, experience and become familiar with contemporary art, which is usually exhibited in larger urban centres.

The theme of this fifth A.A.P. exhibition is a powerful plea for the truly independent artist and for the necessity of seeing the world from a different perspective. In a world inundated with mass production, digital filters, artificial intelligence and parasitic appropriation, this alternative perspective makes a powerful statement. It draws attention to the unique, subjective spirit of the creative mind and to the artist’s own lived imagination, nourished by the world around them.

This conceptual creative force takes shape through the artist’s practice, where genuine sincerity is the sole source of authenticity. It reaffirms that autonomous art emerges from a deeply personal, lived human vision that cannot be replicated.

For this exhibition, artist and curator Hilde Nijs has invited 24 leading artists from across Belgium and beyond to present their work in Ninove.
