TEFAF Maastricht 2027

Forum 100, 6229 GV Maastricht, The Netherlands, 13 - 18 March 2027
Overview

Our presentation for TEFAF 2027 takes J.J. Grandville’s "Un Autre Monde" (1844) as a starting point for a curatorial investigation into the reimagining of the visible world. In the context of rapid societal change, his work created a space where imagination and reality continuously overlap.

From this foundation, we establish a dialogue between Grandville and selected positions in modern art, including Brancusi, Lipchitz, Kandinsky, Magritte, Twombly, Duchamp and Vantongerloo, as well as contemporary art, including Christopher Colm Morrin, Ilse D’Hollander, John Stezaker and Ritsart Gobyn. Rather than tracing direct influence, we highlight recurring themes: shifting identities, psychological depth and the construction of alternative realities through the image.

In this transversal approach, historical material is activated through confrontation with later developments. It reflects the gallery’s commitment to research-driven curation and to revealing unexpected continuities across art history.
