Eline Rausenberger (°1944) Grew up in Antwerp, Belgium Moved to France
As the daughter of two respected artists, Eline Rausenberger never went to art school as it might influence her distinctive style. The colourful figures and scenes so characteristic of Eline's work portray her personality with unpretentiousness and integrity. Rausenberger started painting at age 5 and had her very own exhibition in an Antwerp gallery at the age of 18. In 1971, she won the first prize of the Flemish Painting Prize in Antwerp and in 1976 she received the silver medal of the European Painting Prize.
Her work is her romanticised autobiography. Everything she painted, she experienced. In Eline's works, there is no need for interpretation. Her subjects are so vast that it is impossible to look at them fleetingly. It is truly an experience in which you completely submerge yourself in the atmosphere - and that is Eline's special strength.
